Tagged for Weirdness
Catbird tagged me awhile back to come up with “6 Weird Things About Myself”. Okay, so it was almost a month ago that she tagged me! I really had to think about it.
I don’t know if I’m weird, maybe quirky. When I’m feeling great you’ll see my quircky/weird side. You won’t see it at all if I’m feeling bad. So here are the 6 I came up with.
- I LOVE science fiction and I really want to go to a Star Trek convention some time! I wouldn’t dress up but I’d like to see what it’s like. I love Star Trek (the original and TNG) and tons of other sci-fi TV shows and movies. Now that we have a DVR I’ve been recording tons of shows. I love the books as well. I love sci-fi that deals with space and time travel. But not the gross stuff, that just gives me night mares. Okay, this may not seem that weird, except that I’ve met very few females who really love sci-fi. I usually end up talking to guys about it. And wanting to go to a Star Trek convention is probably weird.
- I’ve very inquisitive. Now being inquisitive isn’t necessarily weird unless it’s weird things you’re curious about. One time I wanted to see how hard it would take to bite a crystal water glass before it broke. The glass story is in a previous post. I didn’t have to bite hard.
- I have a friendly rock. One day at work I was taking a break and walking around outside. I think I was sitting on one of the benches and I looked down and saw this oval shape rock that I thought had a friendly look to it. It’s been on my desk ever since. He’s my friendly rock and it makes me smile.
- Petting fake dogs. I really love dogs and wish I had one. So when I see a picture of a cute dog I’ll pet it, even though it’s on the computer screen or in a magazine. My sisters gave me a mug with a picture of their dogs and everytime I use it I pet both of them. Gotta get my dog fix somehow.
- I’m always doing stupid things. At Va Tech (go Hokies), I had a dry erase board with the stupid thing I did for the day. It was a running list and I wish I could remember all the things on there. One of them included getting a $10 ticket from the campus police for, of all thing, riding my bike on the sidewalk! My first ticket ever! I’m sure there was other stuff on there like running into people, saying stupid things, falling down stairs, ect. Anything stupid or embarrasing, it was on my list.
- Doors always have to be locked. It’s a habit and it could be because I grew up in the Washington DC metropolitan area. And I’m a bit paranoid. But it’s automatic for me to lock car doors as soon as I get in or out of the car. One time Rob and I were going sailing and he was backing up the boat and his back tires were in the water. I got out of the car and locked the doors, out of habit. Of course, the car was running and we were in the middle of no where and far away from his parents house. So we had to wait an hour, with the car still running, until the locksmith came. We were dating them! I also have a tendency to walk out of the house and automatically lock the door, thus locking me out of the house. Too many stories about that.

TOO funny! The glass story has to be my favorite. I’ve wondered the same thing, too, but never had the chutzpah to actually try it!

Ha! I’m getting used to the SciFi thing. I dig Star Trek, but Star Wars is much better (and not really SciFi). The pet rock is so 70s. Remember the shell I gave you in San Diego? You still have it too. The dog thing always cracks me up but I love that you do that. And I had forgotten about the locked car and the sailboat! Oh the memories…
You know what else is weird? You married me.

Rob, it’s not a pet rock, it’s my friendly rock.
And Annette, how cool! You should have taken me with you!

I definitely think sci-fi is weird. But I want to get dressed up for a Sound of Music Sing-a-long if it will ever hit Orlando. I’ve missed it in London THREE times!

A Sound of Music Sing-a-long? That sounds…interesting. Do they have them here?
