World Cup Conversation
Rob and I have been watching the World Cup. For those of you who don’t know what the World Cup is, it’s soccer for us United Statesians (football/futbol to the rest of the world). BTW, there’s a reason I wrote United Statesians, but that’ll have to be another post at another time. We’re really getting into it. Of course we were hoping the USA would do well. No luck there. As I type we’re watching a very tense game of Portugal vs. The Netherlands. We’re pulling for The Netherlands but it’s not looking so good. They only have a few minutes to make a GOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!!!!! and go into overtime.
Too late, they just lost. Probably because they weren’t wearing their bright orange jerseys. Bummer.
Conversation as I type.
Rob: Who are you gonna pull for now? Australia?
Me: Yeah! Who else is left?
Rob: I don’t know, the only ones I care about now are England, Spain. I’ll care about Australia if you want me too.
Me: Yeah, we’ll care about Australia. But I’ll also pull for Spain.
Rob: Okay, but I’ll pull more for the U.K. Although I kinda want to pull for Brazil because they’re so good. I just want to see them play.
Me: I’m blogging this conversation.
Rob: he’s laughing. You should link to my post of the final 16.
Rob: So what are we watching tonight?
Me: We could watch Old School that we recorded.
Rob: But is there anything on TV tonight?
Me: I don’t know. I’m blogging.
Obviously the teams we’re pulling for don’t have anything to do with how good they are. We’re pulling for teams from countries we have ties too. I lived in Australia for a few years. Rob just visited The Netherlands. We both love Spain and have friends there. We’ve both visited Spain and I spent a summer there. What about the U.K. though?
Me: Why you pulling for the U.K.?
Rob: Cuz I’ve visited there twice.
Me: Oh yeah, duh! I forgot. You’re right.

Italy beat Australia today. Now what?
Spain and the UK?
We’re not doing will in our favorites. Perhaps we should get on the Brazilian bandwagon now!
